I hope you all enjoyed reading my last post on Creativity in electrical field with the illustration of Nikola Tesla’s horoscope. Today I am going talk about creativity in civil engineering field with analysis of Visvesvaraya’s horoscope.

About Visvesvaraya

Visvesvaraya is pre-eminent Indian Engineer, scholar and statesman. He was the chief engineer responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam(This dam created the biggest reservoir in Asia when it was built) in Mysore as well as the chief designer of the flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad. For the present topic of interest I am going to analyze the planetary combination that represents creativity in Visvesvaraya’s horoscope and I would recommend to go through this link to know more about Visvesvaraya.

Planets and house concerning creativity in Visvesvaraya horoscope,

10th house - Representing Career and Profession, Its lord Mercury is exalted with 9th lord Sun. From Chandra Lagna 10th house is occupied by Venus(Natural planet for creativity) being 5th lord from chandra lagna occupying 10th house is unique combination for creativity.

5th house - Representing creativity, its lords Mars occupies 9th house with Jupiter and Saturn. From Chandra Lagna 5th lord Venus (Natural planet for creativity) Occupies 10th house.

9th house - Also represents creativity and deep understanding of concepts. Its lord Sun is well placed in 10th house conjunction with exalted Mercury. From Chandra Lagna 9th lord Mercury exalted in its own house with same combination above.

Why Visvesvaraya is considered most prominent Engineer of India?

Mars is most prominent planet for Engineering. Saturn rules structures, iron etc and 4th house represents land, house, vehicle etc. Mars Conjunction with 4th lord(also 4th house represents education) Jupiter and Saturn in 9th house is a good combination for a Civil Engineer. Jupiter and Mars conjunction in the ninth house creates Guru Mangala yoga which is ideal combination for intelligent thinking. Also note that Jupiter being 4th lord and Mars being 5th lord the above conjunction also creates Raja yoga.

Why Visvesvaraya is a master behind major dams in India?

Sun in 10th house gains digbala(directional strength) and it is ideal place for government administration, this combination made Visvesvaraya to hold various high position in government. From 10th house Sun & Mercury aspects 4th house(4th house rules building and construction) and also Mars the planet for engineering aspects 4th house indicates the reason for Visvesvaraya’s contributions in building major dams in India. Venus the planet for creativity occupies 11th house(house of gain) and again aspects 4th house from Chandra Lagna.

Important Events

KRS dams and other prominent construction: During Jupiter(1890-1906) and Saturn(1906-1925) Maha dasa Visvesvaraya involved in many major construction in India. He designed and patented a system of automatic weir water floodgates that were first installed in 1903 at the Khadakvasla Reservoir near Pune, the same system was installed at the Tigra Dam in Gwalior and the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS in 1924)) Dam in Mandya/Mysore, Karnataka. In 1906–07, the government of India sent him to Aden to study their water supply and drainage system. The project prepared by him was implemented in Aden successfully.

Diwan of Mysore and foundation of Engineering institution: Position of Saturn in 9th house(Bhagaya Sthana) with Guru Mangala Yoga made him attain highest honors during Saturn Maha dasa(1906-1925) During November 1909, Visvesvaraya was appointed as Chief Engineer of Mysore State. Further, during the year, 1912, he was appointed as Diwan (second Minister) of the princely state of Mysore. He was Diwan for 7 years. He was instrumental in the founding of the Government Engineering College at Bangalore in 1917, one of the first engineering institutes in India.

Bharat Ratna : Venus occupies 11th house(house of gain) and also it happens to be own house made him receive India’s highest honor of during Venus dasa(1950-1970). Visvesvaraya was honoured with Bharat Ratna, in 1955.

Summary

To summarize 9th house is strongly positioned with Mars(Planet that rules Engineering) with Jupiter and Saturn is a special combination for civil engineer. Sun occupying 10th house with Mercury exalted there is a great combination for holding high status in government. In addition to this Guru Mangala yoga and Amala Yoga(Mercury occupying 10th from Lagna and Venus occupying 10th from Chandra Lagna) made him most intelligent and famous person of India.
